Kevin Hwang was the girls varsity head coach at Gunn High School in Palo Alto from 2009 - 2012, where he guided the team to a CCS berth in Division I each year and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2010 and 2011. Prior to Gunn, he was the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach for the Archbishop Mitty High School girls volleyball program, where he was a part of three State Championship teams (2003, 2004, 2008) and six consecutive CCS Championship and Norcal Championship teams (2003 - 2008). Prior to this, he was also the boys associate coach with Dan Kwon at Mission San Jose High School from 2005-2008. He was also the boys varsity assistant coach at Archbishop Mitty High School for the 2004 season.
In 2007 and 2008, Kevin was also the volleyball director at ClubSport of Fremont, where he taught a volleyball clinic on Monday nights and organized volleyball leagues on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
Kevin is an alumnus of Pioneer High School in San Jose, and received his B.A. in Architecture from UC Berkeley in 1992. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys participating in various athletic activities including volleyball, tennis, and snowboarding, and also enjoys reading, playing the piano, painting, and being with friends.
Coach Hwang currently works as a technical writer for A10 Networks in San Jose. He is married to Sabrina Dong and currently resides in Sunnyvale with their son Kyle and daughter Savannah.
Kevin is IMPACT, ASEP, and CAP I certified.
